Guys, I know I say this about all of my recipes but today’s Shrimp Bisque Risotto is so. damn. good! Like so good! I ate it for three straight days and I was sad when it was gone. That never happens to me because when it comes to food cravings, I have the attention span of a gnat. I took a huge risk making this risotto because I knew I’d be on the hook to eat the whole thing. Bae does not do seafood, so when it came to leftovers, it was either me or the compost. Needless to say, the compost did not see a grain of this Shrimp Bisque Risotto.
Scallop Wonton Soup with Garlic Chive Blossoms
When I was a kid, my mom and I had a ritual. If we ever found ourselves alone for dinner, we’d pop over to our neighborhood Chinese joint. The order was always the same: A plate of Shanghai noodles to split and two orders of wonton soup. It wasn’t a common occurrence because I come from a family of 5. But even if my mom and I only split those noodles 4 or 5 times, those moments had a big impact on me. So much so that to this day, I get a warm and fuzzy feeling every time I see wonton soup on a menu. And that feeling was what I had in mind when I whipped up today’s Scallop Wonton Soup.
Cold Shoyu Somen with Ginger Poached Chicken

We’re in the dog days of summer and the throes of what feels like a two-month-long heatwave. Yes, you can remind me of how much I complained about the heat in February when I’m freezing something vital off, but you probably won’t like my response. Anyway, it’s hot here, so that means every restaurant in Toronto is serving up bowls of gazpacho or vichyssoise. And because I’m hopelessly susceptible to peer pressure, my brain whispered this Cold Shoyu Somen to me the other day and I decided to listen. I’d never made a cold soup of any kind before because I’m unreasonably wary of them. I am, for whatever reason, always convinced I won’t enjoy them. But, you know what? I made this chilled noodle soup and I loved it.
Italian Wedding Soup with Orecchiette
Before I launch into my rendition of Italian Wedding Soup, I want to share with you a shocking discovery. Italian wedding soup isn’t served at weddings. I guess you already knew that, especially if you’ve walked into an Italian restaurant in North America in the last forever. But I mean, even traditionally, Italian Wedding Soup wasn’t served at weddings. I mean, it can be served at a wedding – no law against it. But the soup isn’t specifically a wedding food, like a wedding cake. You dig? Should I over explain it some more?
