I’ve never been one for Valentine’s Day. The concept of the day never sat right with me. If there were ever an aspect of a person’s life one should feel absolutely no shame about, it’s their relationship status. Whether you’re single or attached or somewhere in between, it says very little about you or your worth, in my opinion. So organizing a day to celebrate what is celebrated and praised all year round is ludicrous. Diagnosing the health of your relationship based on the displays of affection (or lack thereof) you received on one day – bonkers! And it’s not even a holiday, you still have to go to work. But if you’re down with unholy snack cross-overs, these Cannoli Arancini are for you.

Margarita Meringue Pound Cake with Tequila Lime Curd

Cinco de Mayo is upon us and very few of us can leave our homes. The only margaritas available to us are the ones we make ourselves and takeout tacos are a poor substitute for fresh. But I will soldier on and mark the day with this Margarita Meringue Pound Cake with Tequila Lime Curd. I know, it’s incredibly noble of me to eat pound cake in such desperate times. I am frequently lauded for my martyr-like tendencies.

I’m not what you would call a Valentine’s Day person. This is well documented, so I won’t spend much time on the subject. But the take-home point is I’m not so much about Valentine’s Day. But nauseating over-the-top declarations of love aside, there are things I like about this exceptionally strange day. For example, I am fond of glitter, cheesy puns, and the color pink, all of which hit peak popularity around February 14th. Oh, and I love a pretty, romantic dessert. Something elegant and rich that borders on too gorgeous to eat. Not unlike this Blood Orange Panna Cotta Tart. I’ll take any excuse to make a stunner like this even if it takes the form of a bullcrap “love” holiday dreamed up by capitalists in their desperate bid for infinite financial progress. But anyway…
